call it Love, if you must.
This is a photographic series about preserving love that exists in the world. I do this because I grew up in a society where PDA is mostly frowned upon, divorce rates are high, and I personally lived in home where any love and affection between my parents was nonexistent. Now it is something I crave more than many things in life. I have visited over ten countries across Europe and America in hopes to find love, and sometimes not just for the series, but for myself.
As an artist and a traveler, I hunt and gather moments of love and affection on analog film. Whether it’s in plain sight or sometimes waiting for the moment to play out. Most of this series was photographed on 35mm and medium format film because of the nostalgia we associate with film today living in a digital world.
I plan to show this series in gallery shows across and one day make a book to share the love I have witnessed in physical form. – Stephanie Sunberg
